The Council Membership Program

The Canadian Pipeliner Accreditation Council is a member driven industry organization providing competency support services including industry recognized certification of Code Qualifications. Membership and designation as a PIPELINER is available for any person working in, or providing services to, the Oil and Gas Pipeline Transportation Sector.

Membership Cycle:

Membership in the Canadian Pipeliner Accreditation Council, upon issuance, is valid to the end of the code cycle period. Code cycle periods run from the publication of a new ‘CSA Z662 Oil and Gas Pipeline Systems’ to 365 days after the publication of the next edition, creating a 1 year membership renewal period which enables pipeliners to ensure that all conditions of the new cycle have been met.
The current membership cycle is July 1, 2019 thru June 30, 2024
The previous membership cycle was July 1, 2015 thru June 30, 2020*
The next membership renewal cycle will commence July 1, 2023

*NOTE – The 2015 code cycle has been extended to September 15, 2020

Member Benefits:

While CPAC cannot guarantee that a member will obtain any particular employment outcome, certification of the various code qualifications are an integral part of a competence assessment conducted by employers in order to meet regulatory requirements. CPAC membership and particularly CPAC’s merit-based code qualification credentials, will typically be seen as a benefit by employers. Many employers will mandate specific credentials as a condition of employment for distinct roles and responsibilities within their organizations. CPAC credentials are verifiable against a published set of code criteria and verifiable industry requirements. All CPAC credentials provide standardized evidence of qualification for use by employers in their individual competence management system. All credentials are listed on the accredited pipeliner index for independent verification by employers.

Member Obligations:

It is a condition of membership that all certified pipeliners read, understand and agree to CPAC’s:

  • General Terms and Conditions of Enrollment
  • Privacy Policy
  • Training & Assessment Policy
  • Complaints and Appeals Policy

Each of the above can be found in the ‘About’ section of the CPAC website under Terms & Conditions. Completion and submission of a Membership Application or Examination Registration, along with payment of fees will be deemed to be acceptance and agreement of each of the above terms, conditions and policies.

Member Fees:

The new member fee is $400.00 + applicable taxes. In addition to general member benefits, the new member fee includes one code qualification examination. Membership can be applied for prior to choosing certification, credential or discipline. Membership is automatic for any pipeliner applying for their first examination.
